How to Fix PC Audio
A very common and frustrating computer issue is when the audio stops working. Speakers can fail or drivers might not be up-to-date and providing the optimal sound. When this does occur, it is extremely annoying. In many cases it is just a quick fix. Here are some procedures you can take to get your PC audio back to top performance.
Detecting Audio Problems
If the PC audio is not working right, the very first step is to double check all of the connections. It may seem obvious, but you would be suprised how often it is the cause. Check that speakers are correctly connected and powered on. You have most likely done this, so the next biggest cause of audio trouble (besides faulty equipment) are the sound drivers.
A PCr relies on sound drivers to have a properly functioning sound card. If these drivers go missing, become corrupt or go out-of-date then your computer could suffer from loss of audio.
Fix Sound and Audio Drivers
The old and slow method is to identify your soundcard, then surf around the manufacturer websites looking for the right driver. Some manufacturers provide update software with the hardware. Either of these is not necessarily the best way forward. We prefer to use driver management software. This software will scan a huge database of files and will automatically update your PC with the correct drivers. The awesome thing about this software is that it’s not limited to sound drivers. You can update any and all of your drivers with a few mouse clicks.
Using driver update software will definitely boost your entire computer’s performance. You can fix video performance, audio quality, increase responsiveness and much more. If you have never tried a driver management program, then you should give it a shot. You can find out more about how to update sound drivers here. You can also download the driver update software, free.

The Canterville Ghost El Fantasma de Canterville A Bilingual Audio Book
Parents who want a way to help their children to memorize a foreign language (or to learn theirs) tend to rely on bilingual books for kids. But because it may happen to be difficult to make children read, their efforts are not always rewarded. The latest language learning software, bilingual audio books for children, solves the problem.
The Canterville Ghost has been chosen to become the first English-Spanish dual language audiobook.
As claimed by the chief publisher, the choice of The Canterville Ghost, by Oscar Wilde, for the publication of the first English-Spanish bilingual audio book is due to the fact that it “meets linguistic, trade, and technical requirements.” The short novel to record should treat of a general subject, so that the words in it would be useful for any reader; it should be suitable for listeners of all ages; and not only should it allow cutting, but also had to keep its qualities despite the cutting.
The sentence-for-sentence alternation makes it a convenient language learning tool while sparing the listeners the wrong interpretations they too often get when they listen to an audiobook recorded only in the language they learn.
The English-Spanish audiobook presents the recording of the original work (for the English part) that is to say: some sentences are very long because, despite the classification “suitable for children” the book is a piece of art, not a teaching tool. The Spanish translation uses modern Spanish.
Oscar Wilde’s storyThe Canterville Ghost is a parody of a ghost story. Each and every of the components are in place: the old residency, the armour in the hall, the blood stain, the chains, the secret corridor, etc, but they do not work as they are supposed to. None is missing, but the circumstances make them not as spectral as they should be, mainly because they are seen from the materialistic point of view of the American family, the Otises. For them, a detergent may remove the stain, the ghost’s chains may be lubricated, a sirup may improve Sir Simon’s awful voice etc.
Even things that are not related with the Otises refuse to work. When the ghost makes the horrific oath, using the “picturesque phraseology of the antique school” -something that is known to have yet proved its worth- though Chanticleer “sounds his merry sound” at once, then he remains mute, instead of serving Sir Simon’s purpose and allowing “deeds of blood” to be wrought. Everything goes wrong for the representant of the old school, of the old England.
But in the end, it is Sir Simon who has a present for the new world. His legacy goes to Virginia, the one who will harmonize the two worlds by marrying her English lover.
While reading the story, children are entertained, not afraid.
Grownups will enjoy the way the author pits an American family against a British ghost, one culture against the other. The ads embedded in the dialogues, that sounded so American one century ago, are still funny. The stereotypes of both cultures are reviewed.
According to the Christian theology, the ghosts cannot exist, since a soul is or is not saved, but cannot choose a third route. A true Christian should not believe in ghosts. But it is the ghost himself that asks for someone praying for his salvation, so that he can be forgiven; and it is Virginia, a believer and a member of the “Free American Reformed Episcopalian Church” who complies with his request. The conclusion is clear: a soul needs more than two options.
Almost all Multilingual bilingual audiobooks, for children or not, follow a sentence-by-sentence alternation. This succession is what reflects the most closely the side by side bilingual books and what makes them perfectly suitable for beginners. The bilingual audio book Spanish-English works according to a comparable manner, so that the beginners do not have to do guess work, they learn the easiest possible way almost as they learned their own language, except that they do not ask their mother to repeat when there is something that escapes their understanding, they simply hit the “Replay” key.
The Canterville Ghost lasts 2h52mn. Each one of the seven chapters of the tale has its own corresponding mp3 file, so that even children may listen to the story since the length of a file is within kids’ ability to focus.
Most adult listeners who want a handy tool to brush up their Spanish will also find a pleasant side effect; they will stop saying: “I have not read it yet,” when asked what they think of Oscar Wilde’s tale and instead will proudly reply: “Actually, I prefer to listen to the Spanish version.”
